EcoPortal.net has become one of the most visited and used portals in the Internet, in Spain, after nine years offering information in environmental, nature and human rights issues. It was founded in 2000 with the goal of becoming a useful tool of research to provide information and education to the Spanish society. It has an average of 350.000 users per month and has translated more that 1.000.000 sites.
EcoPortal.nethas proposed itself to inform, educate and aware the citizens of the problems that pollution and extinction of species is having in our environment and in the hole world. It offers a wide range of information and documentation on the above mentioned issues. Moreover EcoPortal is a supplier of many important media.
It weekly publishes "Ambiente y Sociedad" which is a electronic magazine. This magazine includes more than 30.000 NGOs and many public organisms such as "Legislaturas Municipales y Provinciales" as well as containing opinion articles and news (national and international).
EcoPortal also provides its users with specialized help and guidance for several services such as:
1) Advice from specialist in a gratuitous way for searches done by mail.
2) A forum for every user of the portal.
3) A weekly publication for free of "Ambiente y Sociedad", which has more than 107.000 readers over the five continents.
4) Courses on environmental topics through the virtual campus of the portal.
5) A world wide directory of NGO.
6) A wide range of terminology applied to the topics of environment, ecology and nature. It includes definitions which are precise, accessible and clear. It also allows to contribute with these definitions if wanted.
7) A directory of links to more that 4.500 sites in Spanish that are related to the topics of this portal and organized in the following way: Agriculture, Animals, Art, Education, Energy, Events, Exercices, Government, Health, NGOs, Publications, Recreation, Rights, Science, Transports, Tourism, Vegetarians, Vegetation and Weather.
