GreenFILE EBSCO is freely available online reference database. From GreenFILE you can find a variety of magazines, books, reviews and academic publications. The database contains 295,000 summaries. Whole texts are available in over 4600 from open-access publishing. Published materials are from 1913 (Journal of Ecology) to the present day. The database contains the user manual, search history, search function and your personal profile. GreenFILE site provides a variety of search features like quick search, image search and detailed search.
Search can be targeted to the full text, title, publisher, author, ISBN, ISSN, companies, people, reviews, products or geographic terms. Search is able to limit to the size of texts, years of publication, page number, document type, publication format and academic periodicals. In your search you can use Boolean operators (and, or, not) but also wildcard characters like asterisk (if you are unsure about the ending of keyword or you want to use variations of word) and question mark (which helps when you don't know how to spell your keyword just using (?) to replace a single character). After the search you can print, e-mail, save, cite or add to your own folders all references. Citations are easily exported to bibliographic manager for example to Refworks or Endnote.
